This Fish came to land using floating bread flake in the margins. The swim was alive with surface feeding carp and soon enough Jon was into This lovely common. The rod is a Hardy "L.R.H. No2" salmon spinner, and the reel a hardy "Exalta", both from early 1960.
All Hardy rods have code numbers engraved on the handle furniture which denotes the year of manufacture. This one is 1961.
